Thomas Radford’s Sunday’s Fantasy – Product Review

A ‘wild cut’ mixture so it includes, as well as ribbons, a fair few leaf-like pieces. The aroma from a pouch is indicative of sweet, dark, fruit and a splash of vanilla. Sometimes a pre-pouched blend can be wetter than a loosely pouched one, but this arrives with perfect hydration. The hydration enables imminent smoking to take place, without being delayed by having to set the blend aside to air and allow the moisture to diminish.
Even though many retailers describe the added flavourings as fruit/citrus, a very nebulous term and not exactly specific, once a bowl has begun the type of fruit becomes much clearer: dark fruit, currants and berries. Along with the vanilla from the black Cavendish this makes for an indulgent smoke! Because the fruity addition is devoid of any citrus causticity it gives more of a comforting flavour; sumptuous and moreish, instead of being astringent and sour like some blends infused with citrus. As there’s only a small amount of nicotine to be had it makes it a suitable blend for either beginners or ‘flavour only’ folks. Because of the topping it leaves the palate with a wonderful aftertaste.
From beginning to end the burn from it’s exemplary, requiring very little maintenance, only a few relights and just an occasional tamp. The smoke delivered has a cool, comfortable, temperature and only bites if pushed too hard.
The room-note’s sure to win a few new friends!
Sure, Sunday’s Fantasy isn’t the most complex of smokes, but sometimes you’re not in the mood for haute cuisine, you just fancy a burger!
