Alsbo Black – Product Review

The appearance isn’t as the name implies. Call me ‘crazy’ but I’d expect a blend named black to be, indeed, black. So, although I wouldn’t consider myself totally incredulous by the look, I’m still somewhat perplexed by the name as it contains a higher proportion of brown leaves; FAR HIGHER! Nit picking aside, it gains applause: coarse ribbons, almost a mixture, the moisture’s smack on, and there’s an enticing aroma of sweet nuts.
Like in the pouch note, the best way of describing the flavour of Alsbo Black would be sweet and nutty. The brown Cavendish easily outweighs any black, preventing the smoke having a ‘sticky’ character. Although it doesn’t bite, a word of warning goes to the temperature: should you puff with too much alacrity it can become a touch warm. So, be more tentative with it. Also, a gentle technique betters the speed of the burn; puff harsh and it’ll burn quickly but sipping with ease will supply a longer smoke. The nicotine amount would be more suitable to a newer smoker as it’s quite mild, and the room note’s nutty and lovely!
It’s not the most extravagant aromatic, but one that would make a nice ‘All Day’ smoke: there’s just enough added flavouring to give the taste another dimension, yet not so much as to cause the smoke to be clumsy, too false, and heavy.
