Same-day dispatch — Order by 2pm for next-day delivery (Mon-Fri)
Light shoots short arrows
For winter birds at play
They sing unseen the sparrows
As the darkness slowly narrows
The stinted hours of day
Kaleidoscopic clouds above
Drift low and cloak the sun
The birds feed till they’ve had enough
At rest or on the run
And praise their kind of love
The sentient eyes of passers by
Engage a brief hello
The birds that fill the evening sky
Know not the sadness where they fly
Nor ever need to know
As he that sips his pipe so still
Through winters into spring
Sees daffodils and snowdrops state
Their beauty once so desolate
In nature’s change of will
He sits a bench as if to quiet
Winds which once were sharp
The morning and the evening birds
Play litanies without hard words
With loveliness in riot
For spring makes all things new and ripe
The birdsong with the flowers
Tobacco fills his time of day
The briar man smokes cares away
With magic through the hours
