Description
Digger Flake is a historic British pipe tobacco blend originally produced by John Player & Sons. Introduced in the early 20th century, this traditional flake tobacco was crafted using a blend of carefully selected Virginia and Burley tobaccos pressed into dense flakes to enhance flavour development and provide a slow, cool burn.
The Virginias contribute a gentle natural sweetness with notes of hay, bread, and light dark fruit, while the Burley leaf adds earthy, nutty, and woody depth, creating a robust and satisfying smoke. The pressed flake format allows smokers to either rub out the tobacco or fold and pack the flake, offering flexibility in preparation and a gradual release of flavour throughout the bowl.
Known for its medium-to-strong strength and full-bodied character, Digger Flake was widely regarded as a dependable, traditional blend with a straightforward tobacco flavour. Its rich aroma and steady burn made it a favourite among pipe smokers seeking a classic, no-nonsense flake tobacco.
