Peterson – 3P’s (Peterson’s Perfect Plug) by Stevie B.
Firstly, this isn’t a blend to suit those who have little experience with plugs. Where as some plug tobaccos are on the cusp of being classed as a Kake and can be set up for a smoke with ease, 3P’S isn’t one of them.
Inside the tin sits a cellophane wrapped, dark, dense, plug. If you choose to run it through a coffee grinder, you’ll still need a sharp blade to slice it first; don’t expect to be able to just ‘snap’ some off.
The smoke: my FAVOURITE plug and it justifies the hard preparation. The Virginia and Burley share the smoke quite evenly, neither ‘hogs’ it. But, as well as the tobaccos, there’s another flavour; it doesn’t seem like a HEAVILY added casing but I get a subtle top-note of dark fruit/raisins.
The nicotine could be considered above medium, so here be another reason it might suit the more seasoned smoker. Personally, I enjoy the room-note, but the perception goes from unnoticeable to strong on Tobacco Reviews; so, this must be an entirely subjective topic! The burn from it depends on the predilection for the preparation: slicing it chunky delivers a cooler, slower burning smoke, but the ‘easy option’ of a coffee grinder, although increasing the preparation speed, can also increase the speed of the burn! I favour the more time consuming ‘slicing it into small cubes’ technique.
An apt name: Peterson’s Perfect Plug. It is, indeed, PERFECT!
