Martin's answers

  • Someone asked:
Dear Martin, Do you still ship pipe tobacco outside the UK, in my case to the Republic of Ireland? Kind regards, Alex
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hi Alex, we do ship to some places outside of the UK. Ireland is one of those places! I do recommend you having a look at our Delivery & Carriage information: https://www.the-tobacconist.co.uk/delivery-carriage/ Thank you 🙂
  • Someone asked:
Hello, Could you tell me whether the Benson & Hedges Super Virginia cigarettes are still available? Thank you
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello. Unfortunately, the B&H Super Virginia cigarettes have been discontinued. The UK range of plain cigarettes (untipped) is somewhat diminished. The ones available are: Senior Service, Park Drive and Woodbine. Not as high brow perhaps but all we are left with. 🙁
  • Someone asked:
Why would you say is the nearest equivalent to Hamlet cigars (full length)?
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by alternative as Hamlet cigars are available still. Are you looking for cigars of a similar length to the Hamlet? If so the closest in length would be: King Edward Coronets, Castella Classic, Romeo Y Julieta Puritos, Hofnar Wilde Senoritas. The Royal Dutch Elite are slightly longer but they are a slim cigar. I hope this helps. If it doesn't answer your question then please call the office on 01392 496111 and we can offer further advice on the phone.
  • Someone asked:
    Java tobacco
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello, Could you please give me a bit more information? What type of tobacco product are you looking for? We have Cigars that contain Java leaf, but if you mean the Russian Cigarettes 'Java' then they are not available in the UK. Thanks.
  • Someone asked:
    Can I buy cocktail cigarette
    • Becky Howe replied:
Unfortunately the Sobranie cocktail cigarettes are no longer available in the UK.
  • Someone asked:
I would like to know if morland specials are still available?
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello, Unfortunately they are no longer available in this country. The only Turkish tobacco that we can get now is the Auld Kendal Turkish that we have in stock: https://www.the-tobacconist.co.uk/product/tobacco/loose/loose-handrolling-tobacco/auld-kendal-turkish-loose-handrolling-tobacco/ Hope this helps to answer your question, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  • Someone asked:
Can I get sobranie cocktail cigarettes
    • Becky Howe replied:
Unfortunately Sobranie's are no longer available in this country and haven't been for a couple of years now. They were discontinued after the legislation came in banning flavoured handrolling tobaccos and flavoured/coloured cigarettes. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  • Someone asked:
Hi Martin, can i still purchase old port cigars in the U.K.? am trying to find some so i can share an old port with my son for the first time this xmas. followed by a delight full single malt!
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello. The Old Port Cigars have been discontinued unfortunately. However, Vasco Da Gama do a good alternative, which you can find here: https://www.the-tobacconist.co.uk/product/cigars/vasco-da-gama-oporto-port-single/ Hope this helps, enjoy your Christmas and your single malt (is there another way to spend christmas?!)
  • Someone asked:
Is it really true that Dunhill tobaccos are now discontinued?
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hello, Sadly it is true, the Dunhill tobaccos have now been discontinued. You can read about this on our blog: https://www.the-tobacconist.co.uk/blog/news/the-end-of-an-era-bye-bye-dunhill-tobacco/ We do have some stock remaining of some of the Dunhill tobacco. We do know that replicas of some of the Dunhill tobaccos will be produced, with one of them being exactly the same, under a new name. We will release details on that as soon as we have them - keep watching our blog and look out for our newsletters if you have signed up to them. Thanks
  • Someone asked:
hi Martin. I'm researching a tobacco on behalf of a friend. it was called windmill aromatic, and was available in bulk, can you remember this tobacco and if so can you remember what it contained and what it was flavoured with. I know it is discontinued and I would like to find a suitable replacement. thank you.
    • Becky Howe replied:
Hi there. Windmill aromatic is not one we've heard of I'm afraid. We have racked our brains and the only thing we can think of is maybe our Widecombe Aromatic? If so, the link for this is here: https://www.the-tobacconist.co.uk/product/tobacco/loose/loose-pipe-tobacco/widecombe-aromatic-loose-pipe-tobacco/ Sorry we couldn't be of more help. If you're looking for aromatic tobacco the Widecombe would be a good place to start, but we have lots of aromatic tobaccos in our pipe selections.
